A Chinese porcelain kendi or water vessel, probably of the 11th century Ming Dynasty, found in the Bukittinggi area of West Sumatra. In the shape of an elegant crescent with floral scroll designs in under-glaze blue, pieces such as this one were expressly made for export and to reflect Islamic tastes of the period.
